Needles and Pins Lyrics | Nursery Rhyme Song

Needles and Pins Poem

Imagine you have two things comforting your life but both can’t give even a little bit of the benefits, then what will you do?

You will either try to throw up those things or will just remove the things from your life. Because things that are not useful for human use are often rejected.

This is called the irony of life. Here, we are going to read about the irony that sometimes hinders us from doing the things that can be done easily.

Needles and Pins Lyrics poem is a type of proverbial poetry that may not be useful from the study’s point of view but matters a lot as it teaches the morals that are significant for life.

We love to be in a family and with those who care for us but what if you don’t have anyone with whom you can share your feelings.

Similarly, there comes a stage in life where we get in the need of seeking a partner or a friend but at the same time, we don’t want to get fully dependent on that person.

The following poem was first published in 1842 in the Nursery Rhymes of England.

The poem is in itself a proverb indicating a man’s situation that what happens when he marries someone or what happens when he doesn’t marry anyone.

This version was included in ‘A History of Nursery Rhymes’ in 1899. Then, it was printed in the collection of The Real Mother Goose in 1916.

Needles and Pins Lyrics

I saw her today, I saw her face, it was a face I loved, and I knew

I had to run away, and get down on my knees and pray that they’d go away

But still they’d begin, needles and pins

Because of all my pride, the tears I gotta hide

Hey I thought I was smart, I’d won her heart

Didn’t think I’d do, but now I see

She’s worse to him than me, let her go ahead

Take his love instead, and one day she will see

Just how to say please, and get down on her knees

Hey that’s how it begins, she’ll feel those needles and pins

A-hurtin’ her, a-hurtin’ her

Why can’t I stop and tell myself I’m wrong, I’m wrong, so wrong

Why can’t I stand up and tell myself I’m strong

Because I saw her today, I saw her face, it was a face I loved, and I knew

I had to run away, and get down on my knees and pray that they’d go away

But still they’d begin needles and pins

Because of all my pride, the tears I gotta hide

Oh needles and pins, needles and pins, needles and pins

Needles and pins are small things but is very much important for anyone who is in need of stitching the clothes. There was a time when such things used to be expensive and a husband had to save some pennies and provide them to the wife for the purchase.
